Deadline for nominations has been extended to 8th January 2010
The Arts and Humanities Research Council is seeking nominations for new members to be appointed to its Peer Review College (PRC) in specified subject areas.
Peer review lies at the very heart of the AHRC’s operations, and we are fully committed to the principle of peer review for the assessment of proposals to all our schemes and programmes. PRC members provide expert quality reviews of funding proposals within their areas of expertise, which inform the AHRC’s decision making processes. As well as making an important contribution to the AHRC’s peer review processes, the experience gained by membership of the College also provides benefits to individuals, departments and higher education institutions.
College members are asked to review a small number of proposals, around eight per year. They may occasionally also be asked to sit on panels, which meet to decide the final grades and ranking of proposals to AHRC funding schemes. College members will be reimbursed for travel and subsistence expenses incurred on AHRC business, and they will also receive a payment towards panel membership.
We are now seeking to appoint academic reviewers within the subject areas listed below. We are also seeking to appoint technical reviewers who review technical aspects of research proposals.
Eligibility:
We welcome nominations for all candidates who meet the relevant eligibility criteria, at all stages of their career. Please note that candidates must be nominated by senior staff or representatives within Higher Education Institutions (for example Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Head of School or College, Head of Faculty, Research Director) or other organisations, learned societies or professional associations. A list of current College members is available.
How to Apply:
Nomination form (349kb)
Guidance notes (94kb) including details of the eligibility criteria
Appendix A (167kb)
Appendix B (149kb)
If successful, College members will be appointed for a term of approximately 4 years, commencing April 2010.
The deadline for nominations is 8th January 2010. Nomination forms must be accompanied by a brief CV (this should be no longer than 2 sides of A4, and should cover all areas set out in the guidance notes for nominations) and a list of major publications within the last 5 years (no longer than 1 side of A4). Completed forms may be returned to nominations@ahrc.ac.uk or sent by post to Heather Chubb, Peer Review Support Officer, AHRC, Whitefriars, Lewins Mead, Bristol, BS2 1AE.
