The AHRC ran a consultation earlier this year, inviting feedback from our stakeholders to help us shape our future plans. We encouraged responses from both academic and non-academic stakeholders to get as broad a view as possible.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the consultation. Your views are important to us, and we will be examining your responses in detail over the coming months. However, we thought it would be useful to share some of the initial findings from the consultation. These are provided below.
We invite you to read the interim findings presented below, particularly the emerging themes.
Thank you for your engagement with this consultation. It has been a very positive and enlightening process for us.
Theme proposals emerging from the consultation
Following the close of the consultation in May, the AHRC Advisory Board examined the outcomes and identified what they felt to be the themes with the strongest support across the academic community. The paper provided below provides an outline of these emerging themes; indicates where they link with current or forthcoming cross-Council strategic programmes; and analyses the potential impact of each theme.

Analysis of feedback
We have undertaken some analysis of those questions which had quantitative responses (e.g. ‘agree’, ‘disagree’). These were questions that reflected on the current situation or asked about future policy directions; for example, ‘Should the AHRC do more to develop international collaborations for UK arts and humanities researchers?’
The paper provided below sets out tables and charts to illustrate the findings of our analysis.
