The AHRC periodically reviews our activities in relation to both our ongoing and developing strategic priorities and their original purposes. The outcomes of these reviews are discussed with our Advisory Board before the outcomes are considered by our Council.
The Fellowships in the Creative and Performing Arts (FCPA) and Research Grants Practice Led and Applied (RGPLA) schemes were originally intended for capacity-building in the area of practice-led research and both schemes operated, in one form or another, for over 10 years. After considerable discussion at our Advisory Board and Council it has been concluded that both schemes have been highly successful building capacity in the field. Therefore the decision has been made not to continue with both schemes, as it is now appropriate that funding for research in this field is through our other funding mechanisms.
The AHRC remains dedicated to this area of research, and continue to provide many opportunities for researchers in the practice-led area through our established schemes, particularly our open deadline grants and fellowships schemes, where one of the four subject panels covers research in the creative and performing arts. The early career eligibility criteria for our Fellowships scheme have also been amended to allow for universities to submit proposals for fellows who are not already on a contract with an eligible organisation (a significant criterion of the FCPA scheme).
Please note: whilst these schemes are being closed in the long-term, the AHRC is planning on running a single RGPLA round for FCPA award holders who were not able to apply for project costs at the time of application. Further details of this call will be communicated directly to relevant award holders in due course.
This scheme has now closed
The AHRC work with the RCUK Shared Services Centre (SSC) to deliver all of our funding activities. All queries regarding eligibility for funding and applications in progress and also queries regarding current awards, should be directed to the SSC team dealing with your subject area using the contacts page.
