Knowledge Transfer Fellowship Scheme

Summary

The Knowledge Transfer Fellowship Scheme is designed to support academics to undertake a programme of knowledge transfer activity in a flexible way. The knowledge transfer project should be planned around an existing piece of arts or humanities research which has the potential to make a significant difference beyond the world of academia. KT Fellows may work either on their own or as part of an academic team, to collaborate with, and bring tangible benefits to non-academic organisations through a process of knowledge exchange. These benefits may be economic, social or cultural in nature. Why not look at some of the Knowledge Transfer Fellowships awards we’ve made recently?

Researchers can apply to work on the project on either a full time or part time basis for between 4 months and 3 years.

Closing Dates

This scheme operates without formal deadlines and you are able to submit proposals at any time of year.

The assessment process for an application will take approximately 30 weeks and the earliest start date for a project should be no earlier than 9 months after submission. You should note that, on occasions where there is a delay in obtaining the peer reviews for an application, the assessment process may take longer. In such circumstances, the AHRC will contact the applicant to inform them of any delay.

During 2010 some of the AHRC's grants processing activities will be transferring to the new RCUK Shared Services Centre and the AHRC office moved from Bristol to Swindon. Whilst the AHRC will endeavour to minimise disruption, these major organisational changes may have some impact upon the processing of applications in 2010. As a result, normal timescales for assessing grant applications may be subject to change. We will seek to give as much notice as possible of any changes to timescales and to keep applicants informed of any changes affecting their application. However, you are advised to allow as much time as possible between submitting your application and the suggested start date for your project. You should also bear in mind when submitting your proposal that award announcements may be delayed by a number of months, and successful applicants may need to change the start date of their project to take this into account.

How to make an application

Please note that all applications must be made through the cross-council Joint Electronic Submission (Je-S) System. Further information on this can be found on the Je-S helptext system. If you need any assistance using the system please contact the Je-S Helpdesk on 01793 444164 or on JeSHelp@rcuk.ac.uk.
