The aim of the Beyond Text Student-Led Initiative scheme is to support the establishment of innovative collaborative research training programmes, originated by and run for postgraduate doctoral students within the context of the AHRC Beyond Text strategic programme. This scheme provides seed money to support specialised subject or discipline specific research training to groups of students where it is not possible or cost-effective to provide the training in just one department or institution.
This second round of the Beyond Text Student-Led Initiative scheme will provide up to 10 awards of up to £2000 towards the costs of setting up a training project, activity or event.
Eligible activities could include:
• conferences (as long as they are student-led and organised);
• career development initiatives; networks or research forums;
• journals or online web resources (could include students both submitting, reviewing and editing papers, or organising and administering the journal);
• online video resources;
• roundtable events with academics and practitioners in the relevant field to discuss career pathways and career development issues;
• showcase/demonstration events where students can present their research to local or national employers, government bodies, community organisations, media, schools etc, knowledge transfer activities.
We are keen to see proposals outlining innovative practices that will benefit a wide range of postgraduate researchers, either by their involvement in the organisation of the programme, or by participation in the training activity.
The deadline for this round is 4pm on Thursday 25 March 2010.
