Current Postgraduate Award Holders

Full details of the terms and conditions of your award are detailed in the >pdf Guide to Student Funding 2011 (pdf 329kb).

As of 1 October 2010, it is the responsibility of research organisations to process any changes or suspensions to funded studentships and also to approve any applications for study and conference visits. Where changes are agreed e.g. suspensions, the RO must update the Student Details Portal (SDP) accordingly. Students should contact their research organisation, rather than AHRC regarding any issues or questions about their funding or award. University staff with queries regarding AHRC studentship funding, should speak to the relevant University authorities in the first instance, if they are unable to help refer these to the SSC. Please note: the process for applying for DSA funding has changed for 2012, please read the updated guidance available above. Requests for DSA support must first be discussed with the Disability Office at your institution.

Please note that if you are a funded student and you change your address, it is your responsibility to update your details via the Je-S system. If you require any assistance with this, you should contact the Je-S helpdesk, either by email at JeSHelp@rcuk.ac.uk or by telephone +44 (0) 1793444164.

Research Training Framework. In 2004 the AHRC introduced a framework of research training requirements for its doctoral award holders. The framework was updated again in December 2011 to reflect recent changes.

Changes to AHRC Student Finisher Reports

In previous years, the AHRC has required all students in receipt of AHRC awards to submit a Student Finisher Report. The AHRC has taken the decision to no longer request Student Finisher Reports from Project Students and from students in receipt of BGP or BGP Capacity-Building awards. This applies to Project Students and BGP/BGP CB students who will finish their studies from 2010/2011 onwards. However, we will still be requiring a final report to be submitted for CDA awards.

Although the AHRC no longer require Student Finisher Reports for Project Students and BGP/BGP CB students, we will still need assurance that students are receiving appropriate, high-level support, and this will be monitored through visits and other reporting.

The Guide to Student Funding 2011 will be updated to include information about arrangements for monitoring of student support in place of the Student Finisher Reports. The new Guide will be available on our website shortly.

Research Grants News

Note: the AHRC is changing the way in which it pays travel and subsistence costs to project students attached to Research Grants in the early career and standard routes. These costs should now be included by applicants as a directly incurred cost within the travel and subsistence component of the budget. For further information, please refer to the Funding Guide. This change will apply to all applications submitted after the 1st March 2011.
