The Subject Associations Meeting was held on the 1st May 2008. The meeting was an opportunity for the AHRC to discuss with the Subject Associations various aspects of AHRC strategy, context and funding opportunities.
After the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), the AHRC had to take some very difficult decisions, and we are aware that there were concerns about these in the academic community. This meeting was an opportunity to discuss some of the issues, and to move positively forward with a dialogue about future opportunities for the arts and humanities research community. The imminence of the next spending review means that we must begin considering future research directions.
Professor Philip Esler, Chief Executive of the AHRC made the Opening Speech and Presentation.
