Arts and Humanities in the Media conference

June 24th at UCL and organised by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)

This event is aimed at bringing together press officers from the UK's leading universities and other research organisations to address how best to promote the work of arts and humanities academic researchers across all media.

The conference runs from 10am to 4pm followed by a drinks reception when we will announce the winner of our new Award for Excellence in Arts and Humanities Journalism.

The delegate rate for the day has been kept the same as last year at £50.

For those of you planning to be in London the night before the conference then you are very welcome to join us for an informal networking dinner. This won't be included in the price of the conference but those who attended the dinner last year had a very enjoyable evening.

Keynote speaker - Mary Beard, Professor of Classics at University of Cambridge, columnist for The     Times and media expert on Radio 4 as well as television

Broadcaster slot - Mark Bell, BBC Factual Commissioner, Arts

Press/academic case study - Portus Project. Professor Simon Keay, Professor Graeme Earl and communications specialists Peter Franklin and Karen Woods talk about their experience in ensuring that this research project in Italy was picked up by the world's news media

Print journalist - Louise Jury (Evening Standard cultural reporter)

Museums case study - Curator J.D. Hill from the British Museum and Radio 4 programme editor Rob Ketteridge discuss what it took to make the series 'A History of the World in 100 Objects' happen as well as become a media success.
