The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has just announced the latest projects to be funded through the AHRC Research Grants Scheme.
A total of nearly twelve million pounds has been awarded to twenty seven research projects across the full range of arts and humanities disciplines on topics as diverse as:
• major new archaeological field work on Easter Island,
• production of the first complete scholarly edition of the works of Robert Burns
• the first large-scale history of the French language in Russia
• Video-art in Italy 1968-1994
• And a Comprehensive Online Edition of Newton's Theological Papers
amongst many others.
The Research Grants Schemes are intended to support well-defined research projects enabling individual researchers to collaborate with, and bring benefits to, other individuals and organisations through the conduct of research. This scheme is not intended to support individual scholarship.
The standard route provides grants for projects with a full economic cost (fEC) between £20,000 and £1,000,000 for a varying duration up to a limit of 60 months and often includes funding for one or more doctoral student to be involved in the project.
Further details on the scheme can be seen here http://www.ahrc.ac.uk/FundingOpportunities/Pages/RG-StandardRoute.aspx

Notes to editors:
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC): Each year the AHRC provides approximately £112 million from the Government to support research and postgraduate study in the arts and humanities, from languages and law, archaeology and English literature to design and creative and performing arts. In any one year, the AHRC makes approximately 700 research awards and around 1,300 postgraduate awards. Awards are made after a rigorous peer review process, to ensure that only applications of the highest quality are funded. The quality and range of research supported by this investment of public funds not only provides social and cultural benefits but also contributes to the economic success of the UK.
