Anna Best & Paul Whitty- Vauxhall Pleasure
BMIC CUTTING EDGE SERIES
Vauxhall Pleasure examines the past and present soundscape of Vauxhall Cross Gyratory — former site of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.
Artist Anna Best and composer Paul Whitty chart the relationship between political protest and entertainment, traffic and pedestrians, pollution, breathing and song. Re-inventions of Arcadian Songs by Thomas Arne (1710-1787) meet with the thunderous roar of the internal combustion engine in a film, installation and performance.
