CITY IN FILM: Liverpool's Urban Landscape and the Moving Image

Launch of City in Film Project On-line Catalogue

Venue:         Leggate Lecture Theatre, Victoria Gallery and Museum, Ashton Street, University of Liverpool, L69 3DR.
Date/time:    Tuesday 16th June.   12-30pm - 2.00pm.

The event will feature a screening of a short compilation of amateur films made in Merseyside over the last fifty years. The screening will be introduced by a representative from the Wirral-based cine club, Swan Movie Makers. Dr Julia Hallam and Professor Robert Kronenburg will each give an introduction to the database and the on-going activities of the City in Film research based in the Schools of Architecture and Politics & Communication Studies. There will be an opportunity for attendees to discuss the project with the team and to search the database, which lists over 1700 titles of films made in and of Liverpool from 1897 to the 1980s. Covering a wide range of genres, including amateur and actuality films, newsreels, documentaries and features, the database can be searched by date, location (including by building and street name), genre, filmmaker, spatial/architectural themes, and a number of other options.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. We do hope you are able to join us for this celebration of Liverpool in Film. Please RSVP to cityinfilm@liverpool.ac.uk.
