FUNDING THE FUTURE: ENSURING RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT

Friday 27 January 2011 from 1pm to 4.30pm Room C1-2 Pathfoot Building University of Stirling

This conference is open to all third year undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students and staff, who are interested in or have questions about AHRC funding.

As support for study in Arts and Humanities is becoming harder to secure, many of us must prove the value and legacy that our work in these fields will have beyond the confines of the University.

This may involve working in collaboration with other non-academic institutions; using digital technology to future-proof research, or providing access to academic research for a wider audience, under the umbrella of community engagement. Increasingly, community engagement takes us beyond the confines of our specific areas of research and into the territory of multi-disciplinary research, in which we engage with a wide range of academic disciplines and non-academic agencies.

The informal afternoon with the University of Stirling's AHRC liaison Daniela Bolle (Research and Development Manager of University of Stirling), will offer insight on available funding and the application process with an opportunity for questions from the audience. This will be followed by six ten minute presentations:

Musical Interventions in the Treatment of Anxiety by Ellen Spaeth (University of Edinburgh)

The Future of Food by Francesco Buscemi (University of Stirling)

Penance and Penitentiary: Ritualising the Criminal Justice System by Katja Neumann (University of Stirling)

Hyperculturality and Transparency Judith Kahl (University of Dundee)

Redefining Religious Concepts through Popular Television: The Second Coming by Gemma Carroll (University of Stirling)

Interdisiciplinary PhD: framing the proposal within AHRC award scheme by Val Dufeu (University of Stirling)

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Anne Gillingham at a.e.gillingham@stir.ac.uk by January 20th.
