5th May Deadline - Meeting Margins Call for Papers: Transnational Latin American Art

 05 May 2009

International Research Forum for Graduate Students and Emerging Scholars

A Call for Papers has just been announced by "Meeting Margins: Transnational Art in Latin America and Europe 1950-1978", a 3 year AHRC funded research project currently being carried out by the Department of Art History and Theory at the University of Essex, and TrAIN, the Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation at the University of the Arts London.

The Call invites proposals for "Transnational Latin American Art" an International Research Forum for graduate students and emerging scholars, which is a collaborative event between Meeting Margins and the Department of Art and Art History and the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, where the forum will take place on the 6th and 7th of November 2009. The organisers hope to interrogate an emergent paradigm within recent exhibitions, publications and research projects, which view the history of Latin American Art in terms of reception, contact and collaboration.

The Call is aimed at early career academics, particularly current doctoral candidates, post-doctoral researchers who have completed their doctorate in the past 3 years, and other scholars with equivalent experience. The deadline for 500 word proposals is the 5th May 2009. Travel bursaries are also available.

For more information please see http://www2.essex.ac.uk/arthistory/meeting_margins/. The 500 word proposals, along with all other enquires concerning the Forum and Meeting Margins should be directed by email to Ian Dudley at idudle@essex.ac.uk
