Department of Museum Studies, University of Leicester
Wednesday, July 1, 2009
This workshop is for PhD research students interested in improving their skills in reading
papers submitted for publication to journals. Peer review, a largely hidden and anonymous
process, is made more transparent by the tutor presentations, exercises and tutor
feedback. Delegates will increase their knowledge of the process, critical reading skills and
ability to provide constructive feedback to authors. The event will be useful for all arts and
humanities PhD students but essential for anybody planning to set up or work for an
academic journal.
A limited number of places are available for PhD students to attend this workshop. Please
apply to Sally Hughes (shughes@brookes.ac.uk) including reasons for your interest, a
short description of your research, information about any research journals that you are
working with and an estimate of your travel costs (Museum Studies department is 10
minutes walk from Leicester train station.)
There is no fee for this workshop and delegates receive some assistance towards their
travel costs.
