Issues of creativity and place are currently of compelling significance as fields of scholarly research, sites of artistic practice and arenas of public interest. This interdisciplinary conference brings together academics, art historians, art theorists and arts practitioners to discuss the geographies of creativity.   
 
Key- note speakers include:
Professor Phil Crang (Department of Geography, Royal Holloway, University of London).
Professor Wendy Larner (School of Geography, University of Bristol)
Professor Sam Smiles (Art History, University of Plymouth and Tate Britain)
 
Across the three days a series of papers, panels, practitioner presentations and creative activities bring a range of research and practice on geography and creativity. These include;
 
•    Geographical analysis of art, craft, hobby and play practices.

•    Creative industries literatures on creative clusters; networks and creative practices as well as work on the governance of the sector and its immaterial labour politics.

•    Contemporary art theory and art history on the relationship between artistic practices and place (from the analysis of Art Schools and Colonies to the development of site-specific art works and relational/ participatory art pieces).

•    Literatures on creativity and innovation in relation to everyday practices,

•    Economic geographies on creativity and the new knowledge economies,

•    Arts and other practitioners whose work explores issues of site specificity and the relationship of artistic practices to place.

•    Creative practices as geographical practices.
