The AHRC is a dynamic, forward looking employer. Established in 1998 as the Arts and Humanities Research Board, we became a Research Council in April 2005. The AHRC funds research and postgraduate training throughout the United Kingdom.
We are based in central Bristol and employ over 100 people in a number of different roles, including those administering applications and grants in our Programmes divisions and a range of professional support functions including IS, finance and communications.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council is pleased to announce the opportunity of working with us in our Bristol offices on an exciting range of different projects. Our internships are offered on a 3 month basis initially with a possible extension for an additional 3 months subject to performance. We’re looking for enthusiastic recent graduates in arts and humanities, business studies or politics who are interested in current affairs and public policy, and want to gain valuable research and work experience. In return we can offer you opportunities to develop key skills in an area that interests you:
Evaluation of AHRC-funded Research and PG training
• Analysis of end of award reports
• Tracking the successes of AHRC-funded PhD students
• Considering the influence AHRC-funded research has had on scoping policy
• Analysing data and presenting it in different styles/media to suit different audiences
Public Affairs and Communications
• Carrying out desk research
• Drafting of responses to parliamentary questions and other documents
• Preparing materials for events
• Writing articles and editorials
• Managing contacts
Knowledge Transfer
• Developing a process to collect and analyse the impact statements of AHRC-funded research projects
• Supporting changes to the peer review mechanisms for KT schemes
• Arranging training and jointly funded events
International
• Carrying out an inventory of funded projects to identify and assess international collaborations
• Developing a process to assess international partnerships and projects
• Producing and presenting management information and statistical data on the activities of the International team
• Ideally candidates should have a background in Business Information Management and be prepared to work independently on large data gathering projects
