Podium Magazine - Update
Due to a marketing and communications freeze across the public sector, the AHRC will not be publishing its magazine PODIUM this autumn. This will be reviewed after the freeze is due to end on 31 March 2011. In the meantime please keep an eye on the website to stay up-to-date with all the latest news and case studies from the AHRC. A brand new feature ‘The Big Interview’ launches in this issue with an interview with eminent historian, researcher, broadcaster and author Tristram Hunt. We also have a story on the film ‘sleep furiously’, written and directed by former AHRC award-holder Gideon Koppel. You can learn how an AHRC-funded project is bringing to light the narratives of the Indian Ocean and finally there is a taste of the many exciting and innovative projects funded by the AHRC’s Beyond Text Strategic programme.

This case study examines four AHRC grants awarded to the Design Against Crime Research Centre, Central Saint Martins College of Art and
Design, University of the Arts London. These awards have facilitated the development/research of resources and implementation/testing of design
exemplars to reduce crime.

In 2006 we commissioned consultants to find out from recent postgraduate award holders how important the qualification they had gained had been to their professional development. On the right track summarises what we found out about the future career paths of former postgraduate award holders.

The AHRC commissioned Annabel Jackson Associates, an independent consultancy, to undertake two case studies looking at the social impact of artists exhibitions.

 

At Home in Rennaisance Italy (pdf 1206kb)

This study contains a consideration of the economic benefits arising from this major exhibition, which was held at the Victoria and Albert Museum (www.vam.ac.uk).
