Professor Mark Llewellyn
Director of Research
Mark Llewellyn has been Director of Research at the Arts and Humanities Research Council since January 2012. Before joining the AHRC, Mark was John Anderson Research Leadership Chair in English at the University of Strathclyde, having previously worked at the University of Liverpool (2006-11). His research interests are in late Victorian literature and culture and contemporary culture's engagement with the nineteenth century, and he has published widely in these fields. Mark now holds a Visiting Professorship at Strathclyde.
At the AHRC, Mark provides leadership for the Programmes Directorate, working with two Associate Directors and heads of individual teams. His remit includes strategy and delivery across all funding activities for both research and postgraduate together with international engagement, knowledge exchange and partnerships, public policy, research careers and the Peer Review College.
Internationally, he is a member of the Humanities in the European Research Area (HERA) Board, chairs HERA's Knowledge Exchange Strategy Group and serves as a member of the Governing Board of the EU JPI on Cultural Heritage.
