Lead agency and reciprocal agreements
We have co-funding agreements with non-UK research funding organisations. These enable joint research projects in which costs for researchers in both countries can be included in a single grant application. Current agreements under responsive mode grants are:
- FAPESP in Brazil for joint collaboration between Brazilian and UK research administered by the AHRC.
- NSF in USA for research collaborations between American and UK researchers (administered either by NSF or AHRC).
The AHRC have some reciprocal agreements with non UK research funding organisations. These are signed with organisations that have similar policies to the AHRCs international co-investigator policy and UK researchers can be part of national research projects. The difference between these and lead agency agreements is that the grant is funded solely by the agency that is applied to (under lead agency agreements the costs will be split between the funders involved). These agreements are signed to raise the profile of these opportunities on both sides. Current organisations with reciprocal agreements are:
