Funding and Training Opportunities

The AHRC offers a variety of postgraduate and Early Career Researcher (ECR) funding and training opportunities, in the form of both individual awards and research project grants. Examples are listed below, but other opportunities arise periodically. Sign up to our regular bulletin to receive updates.

  • A complete list of postgraduate funding opportunities, which include studentships, policy internships, and international research schemes, can be found here.
  • For ECRs, there is an early career pathway for Research Grants, which provides grants for projects with a full economic cost (FEC) of between £50,000 and £250,000 for a varying duration up to a limit of 60 months.
  • There is also an early career route in the Leadership Fellows scheme which provides time for research leaders, or potential future research leaders, to undertake focused individual research alongside collaborative activities which have the potential to generate a transformative impact on their subject area and beyond.

A list of funding calls (not restricted to postgraduate or ECR) which are currently open can be found here. Details of closed calls may be found on this page.
